A ready-to-use alternative: Dietz turntable control DDS-LR

The turntable decoder system DSD2010 offers a wide range of possibilities. The system comprises a plurality of circuit boards that are connected as needed. It can be used both in a digital (Central station or PC) and analog controlled model railroad.
The main PCB acts as the central board and has the following tasks:

Communication with engine and display board
Receiving the commands from the digital voltage (track power)
Output of feedback via S88-N
Providing the supply voltage for motor and display board
Reverse loop function for the turntable (only for two-wire systems)
Selection of various operating parameters via two DIP-switches
Status display via three LEDs
Calculating the target position and transfer to motor board

For each turntable, you basically need a central board ("pit") and a motor board ("Engine").

Feedback is optionally done via the S88-N bus. If the central station has a conventional S88 bus, an additional converter is required. The OpenDCC central station may be retrofitted for S88-N with some additional components on its own board. This replaces the converter.
If the hub is fully controlled by a PC (without central station), the serial RS232 interface is used for feedback.

This kit contains SMD components. However, soldering SMD components is much easier than expected ( 'Der richtige Umgang mit SMD' (Source: ELVjournal, German language)). You can also purchase this kit with partially preinstalled SMD components (see 'Available Options' below).

Construction manual, schematics and PCB layouts are delivered on a CD-ROM, including firmware (if applicable) and a great deal of additional information.
